I got to thinking about this before I redid the website, then I got side tracked, then I started thinking about it yesterday when I got an email from AdultMaven that I needed to pick my free DVDs.

Just to back up a moment, I started reviewing adult movies for AdultMaven maybe a month ago. I came across this website when going through Craigslist looking for writing jobs (I have found several, don’t laugh at me to hard). Anyway, there was an add on Craigslist for adult movie reviewers for AdultMaven. Not only do they supply you with porn, you get paid through an affiliate with Yappo, a video on demand site for adult movies. I signed up immediately and my husband proceeded to give me shit about it saying “You will write anything for a buck won’t you?”

Everything but a political speech.

Since then I decided to sign up for a few more affiliate programs and put my reviews on a blog that I manage myself. Why? Because not everything I am going to watch is on Yappo. Half of what I watched isn’t up there and I want people to be able to find something that they may want to watch after reading my review.

Anyway, I signed up for AdultMaven after going through their site and discovering that there were no women signed up who were actively reviewing porn. I did find a handful of women going through their list of reviewers, but none of them submitted anything. I have a few theories as to why this is, but the truth is a lot of porn is geared to men.

Lets look at some of the titles I had to pick from for my free DVDs (these are the sort of things that feed into men’s fantasies. That sounds like I am stereotyping men and their porn, but the fact is, so many of these types of movies would not be made if there wasn’t a major audience for them).

MILF Hunter 5
Phat Ass White Booty 2
Big Tits at Work
Matts Models 4
Squirtin’ Sistas
Team Squirt 3
Teenage Peach Fuzz 5
Be My Bitch 5
Ass Addiction 3
Cum Stained Casting Couch 11

Just the titles alone turn me off here. Most of them you can guess what they are about by the titles.

So, what did I pick out for my free DVDs? Fired from Wicked Pictures and Stop Staring from Vivid. My alternate choice was Not Another Porn Movie. When I shared what I picked out with my husband (before I realized that Not Another Porn Movie was on the list) he asked me why I picked the first two. My answer, “Because Evan Stone is in them.” I was told I was going to get accused of only reviewing Evan Stone movies. I asked him if he would rather watch Black Teen Pussy Party or Cum Fiesta 6.

“Not really.”

Yea, I didn’t think so.

There were a handful of new things up with Jenna Jameson in them, but she scares me a bit now and I don’t really want to look at her. The most recent picture I saw of her she was anorexic thin, and it looked like she had some of the silicone from her boobs moved to her lips. Come to think of it, she looked like that on LA Ink when getting tattooed by Kat Von D. It was scary. Hey, if I want horror with my porn there is always Repenetrator (previously banned zombie porn) and Dark Angels (vampire porn).

The question remains, what do women look for in porn? I don’t know. I just know what I look for and I know that there are movies out there that are marketed to couples. Nothing like watching a skin flick with your significant other to spice things up a bit. These are the movies where the men get equal billing as the women. I can name as many male actors in the adult industry as I can actresses. Men on the other hand can probably only name Ron Jeremy and Mark Horner who have been around since the 70s along with all the popular actresses.

Couples porn doesn’t usually have titles like Phat Ass White Booty 5. Couples porn actually attempts to be a movie with a plot. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t anal sex and the obligatory lesbian scene. It means that there is a reason for the sex, more or less, even with really bad plots and dialog.

The fact that women will watch porn and even like porn seems to be lost on people. Here’s the thing, women read trashy romance novels for the fantasy and the sex. Any woman who says that they don’t read those books for the hot sex scenes is full of shit. Plain and simple. The thing is, we want sex to be believable, not necessarily romantic, but believable. I don’t really think that is to much to ask for.
